DCNR Wild Resource Conservation Program
Description:  The Wild Resource Conservation Program is Pennsylvania’s biodiversity conservation program. As part of DCNR, and working closely with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, we work to conserve Pennsylvania’s non-game animals, wild plants, and their habitats. Our mission is to identify and prioritize research and conservation needs, provide grants to fill those needs, and ensure the flow of information between researchers, conservationists, and educators.

2013 Project Priorities.
Applications are being accepted for the following projects:

Surveys:
   - Plants of special concern
   - Crayfish
   - Ohio River mussels
   - Eastern hellbender
   - Aquatic species & water quality in State Park lakes

Research:
   - Impacts of prescribed fire on state lands
   - Identify & characterize potential impacts of southern species that may move north
   - Evaluate conservation needs of edge-of-range plant species
   - Status & vulnerability of species listed in State Wildlife Action Plan

Conservation & Management:
   - Recovery plans for imperiled plants
   - Assess habitat for species of Greatest Conservation Need (as listed in State Wildlife Action Plan)

Education:
   - Develop module about American chestnut for Project Learning Tree
   - Develop supplemental learning materials for Project Learning Tree
